My name is William W. Cullen IV. I am passionate about music, art, house construction, and staying healthy for my age. I overdo just about everything to make sure I have done my best since I am always pushing myself to get better at all that I do. I am a Christian and believe God has a purpose for us all. I am the proud father of a daughter who stole my heart 13 years ago; she is my pride and joy.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a 13 year old daughter who is amazing and has biggest heart in world. We have a unique bond.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I run a home inspection business and have been a home inspector for almost 18 years. I am a continuing education provider for LA home inspectors as well. I love helping home buyers learn more about the houses they are purchasing. Getting to work at a new place every day makes the career exciting and rewarding. I enjoy teaching the most. I want to be able to pass on what good practices I have learned over years through experience to other home inspectors to help keep the profession reputable, honest, and informative. When I am not wearing my inspector cap, I can be seen practicing my passion for music on various stages throughout the Northshore and Greater New Orleans area as a singer/guitarist or as an artist using wood to create pieces.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Bosco’s – I cannot get enough of their lasagna, the best. I also enjoy Carretta’s and Tchefuncte’s.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Mandeville since the early 70s – maybe 50 years – but moved here from the southshore as a toddler.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
There really isn’t one person in particular that I’ve met who is the most interesting. I do meet many strangely interesting people when I am playing music.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My Cousin Vinny. Joe Pesci always makes me laugh.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Get right with God as soon as you can. Nothing else matters more.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I love going into Saia’s in Mandeville. It has been there as long as I can remember. And the big cow – so iconic.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would pick Paul McCartney so I can ask him how he is able to write such incredible melodies and songs and never seem to run out. He, of course, would have a plate of Bosco’s lasagna in front of him.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Mandeville has hilly country above it, a river to the left, a giant lake below it, and white sandy beaches just a short drive away. What other place has so many features?
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I would love to be retired; playing music and selling my art.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I do not like to watch TV & have not had cable for years. TV makes you lazy and I have my final elderly years to do that.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I was on a cruise once – the only cruise I have ever taken – and while we were in the middle of the gulf during the night, they called out that the ship was going to turn out all the lights to remove light polution in order to view the stars. The moon was on the other side of the earth so all that was visible were the clearest stars you will ever see. It felt like I was in space and was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. 10 out of 10
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Anyone who is performs at the top of their game inspires me. Greatness is only acheived by dedication, heart, belief, and passion.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Home is my safe place on earth. Nothing feels better than walking in through that door and shutting off the world for as long as I need to.
